Our Lands

Afognak Island

Afognak Native Corporation (Afognak) owns 248,000 acres of land in the Kodiak Archipelago, primarily on Afognak Island. The lands represent Afognak’s most valuable asset. They have formed the core of Afognak’s financial success, and they demonstrate value through Shareholder use for culture, subsistence, and recreation activities as well as the opportunity for economic development.

Afognak manages and protects its traditional lands, providing opportunities for responsible land use by Shareholders and others.  Afognak, in partnership with two other Native corporations, regulates land use through a comprehensive lands security program.
